Tentative list of programs for 2022:

Growing Bloomfield - May 19

Paul Hudson will be giving a presentation on the new organization that has been formed to find out what the residents of the town feel they wants and need to make Bloomfield a better place. Will give us the results of the survey that has been sent out to all members of the community.

Bloomfield's Abner Jones clocks

Russ Oechsle, an expert on the history of Abner Jones, will tell us about Jones' clock making business in Bloomfield. You can view his two clocks we are blessed to have on display here at the Academy.

The history of the oakmount sanitarium

Judi Stewart, our Town Historian, will give us the background on the old TB sanitarium that was located on Oakmount Ave. Did you know that it was the first such sanitarium in the state of New York? Judi is an expert on local history!

Life in a longhouse

Perry Ground comes back to us once again and helps us understand Native American history. Perry Ground (Turtle Clan, Onondaga) shares tales from the Longhouse. He will talk about traditional legends, their customs and traditions in the winter months, and history of the Haudenosaunee people. His program last year on "Rethinking Thanksgiving" was a standout and we are anxious to have him return. This is a very family-oriented program.
